Here is a concept I created for "Project Amalur's" Griffin mob.  The Designers wanted to add a classic, regal creature to the world.  The animations for the Griffin are fantastic and the feathers on his head would radiate outwards when the Griffin was threatened.  I hope you get to see the Griffin's amazing 3D model by Brandon Cebenka.

This is the Manticore concept which was based on the Griffin skeleton and animation set.  The Manticore is a combination between a lion, bat, goat and scorpion.  I tried to hit the classic hallmarks that define the Manticore's visual mythology while still giving this Manticore a unique look.  It's always a fine line between what a viewer sees as new and interesting and what they see as TOO weird.

This is a pet you would have been able to acquire as a class attribute in "Project Copernicus."  Once I find the file I also have a saddle with armor that I drew on a separate layer.  Some of the pets we had planned were going to be used as mounts in addition to the race specific mounts.

This creepy guy is called the Barrowfrost Revenant.  We needed a character that looked a little more bizarre to add some variety from the typical biped, quadruped and digitigrade creatures.  The Barrowfrost is a creature of chaotic magic and I wanted to take away any sense of personality that you could relate to. To make sure he read off of the background and distinguish the Barrowfrost from other creatures I made his head silhouette very distinct.

This is the Jottun!  One of the first concepts that helped establish the character style of "Project Copernicus."  Both Billy Ahlswede and Minoh Kim were instrumental in critiques to get to a final design.  The white eyebrows are what gave the Jottun (who is essentially an ogre) a sense of intelligence and personality.  Although the Jottun are brutes they are smarter than they look.  Like the Goblin race the Jottun's have a lot of personality, especially through their animations.

This was the concept for the Bolgan in "Project Copernicus."  The Bolgan is one of the Fae and is a character that crosses over from "KOA: Reckoning" into the MMO "Project Copernicus."  I based this drawing off of Sean Murray's initial concept of the Bolgan in "Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning." It can be a lot of fun iterating off of others work!  Cory "Bootstrap" Turner modeled the Bolgan for Copernicus.

This is a concept for a monster called the "Lukos."  This was our version of a werewolf.  We needed some creatures that were incredibly muscular.  I had a lot of fun designing this character.  Most of the thought process was focused on making his silhouette and anatomical shapes dynamic.  The basic design was pretty simple.

Here is my concept for a member of a faction called the "Justicars" in "Project Copernicus."  They were a faction that acted as a judicial system within the world of Amalur.  They are distant relatives of the Ljosalfar race, an elf race that lives in wintry climates.  I based the Justicar's color palette off of the Ljosalfar color palette.  Brandon Cebenka created a great 3D model for this character.

These are just a few armor designs I created for "Project Copernics."  For these few armor/costume designs we were trying to establish some basic shapes and styles for tunics, tabards and robes.  You would wear these outfits as vanity.  These specific designs were intended for NPC (non-player character) use.  You would still be able to wear these as vanity regardless if you wished.  You could wear armor on top of of these outfits as well.

This is a concept for an enemy race called the "Denier."  Initially the Shaman was supposed to be an armor set on the large human male but I thought large female would be a more fun direction.  I wanted to give her an outfit that would be easily recognizable from a distance.  In real life I'm sure her neck would break with all the weight she's carrying in her headdress.  The Denier are a barbaric, nomadic race which is evident with all the leather, fur, tattoos and gypsy elements in her outfit.
